Small French conversation groups for adults in Leigh-on-Sea
Friendly, relaxed French classes for adults who understand more than they can say and want to feel more confident speaking.
No pressure to be perfect.
No formal, grammar-heavy lessons.
Just useful French, real conversation and confidence around the table.
You understand more than you can say
You may have learned French at school, taken classes, used apps or built up a good vocabulary.
But when it is time to speak, you hesitate.
You overthink.
You lose your words.
You worry about making mistakes.
That is exactly what these groups are here for.
Conversation first. Confidence first. Perfection later.
In these small groups, you will practise speaking in a relaxed, supportive way.
You will use everyday French, talk about real-life topics and build confidence week by week.
You are not expected to perform.
You are simply encouraged to have a go.

Strive for progression, not perfection.
I’m Sophie, a French native speaker originally from Alsace, now based in Leigh-on-Sea.
I’ve loved languages for as long as I can remember. I grew up speaking French and Alsatian, studied German and English at school, then Japanese at university. I later lived and worked in Japan before moving to London “for one year” in 2000. Twenty-six years later, I’m still in England.
I’ve been teaching French since 2014, working with adults since 2017, including corporate learners through full-immersion French sessions with Berlitz International.
Because I have learned and lived in other languages myself, I know what it feels like to hesitate, make mistakes, lose your words and keep going anyway.
That is why my groups are calm, supportive and focused on confidence, real conversation and steady progress.
My aim is simple: to help you move from knowing French to actually using it.
